How You Can Volunteer
How Our Program Began
In January 2004, Desiring God officially established its volunteer program. Larry Agnew, who had been working as a volunteer, was hired as “Coordinator for Volunteer Mobilization� and teams were organized. There are currently twenty-six volunteers actively involved on a weekly, bi-monthly or once monthly basis.
What Our Volunteers Do
Our volunteers work individually or by teams of 5-7, assisting in a number of areas including: production & mailings; development; prison ministry; data entry; window and book display; facility maintenance, repair and cleaning.
Where Our Volunteer Program Is Going
As Desiring God moves ahead, the organization and management of the Volunteer program will be formalized and strengthened in a number of areas including: recruitment, screening, selection, orientation and training. A formal application/screening process will be developed, all designed to further the purpose of the volunteer program which exists to gladly assist the directors and managers of Desiring to spread a passion for the supremacy of God in all things for the joy of all people through Jesus Christ.
