Our Year-End Financial Need
UPDATE: As of January 6, 2010, and believing we have received from God all that he desired for us in 2009, God provided more than $550,000 of the $650,000 year-end need! We made our plans, but we know that God establishes our steps (Prov. 16:9) and provided exactly what we need (Phil. 4:19). Thank you for standing with us in prayer!
UPDATE: As of January 4, 2010, with the December mail we have processed thus far, God has provided more than $520,000 of the $650,000 need referenced below. God has been very kind in what he has provided to us! We will provide a final update on January 6 after we have processed all the web and mailed gifts. Thank you for standing with us in prayer!

We are grateful to God for gifts of any amount. If you have prayed about our year-end financial need and God has placed us on your heart for a donation as we close 2009, you can do so in the following ways:
- Until 11:59 p.m. (Central) on Thursday, December 31 through Desiring God’s website.
- Until 4:00 p.m. (Central) on Thursday, December 31 by calling Desiring God at 888-346-4700.
- All gifts postmarked on or before December 31 will receive a gift receipt for 2009 even if received and processed by Desiring God in January. (Please note: checks with a December date but postmarked on or after January 1, 2010, by regulation are considered 2010 donations):

December is both the month Desiring God (and other ministries) depends most heavily on God for financial support, and it is also the month we celebrate the Incarnation.
I doubt that this is coincidence.
When the Son was “born in the likeness of men” (Phil. 2:7), we received a gift so immense that we have barely begun to grasp it. Without the Incarnation, there would be no death on a cross. No death, no forgiveness of our sins. We would be without God and without hope in this world (Eph. 2:12).
Without the Gift of Christmas, the immense cost of our redemption would go unpaid.
As we near the end of December, the amount of financial support that we need in order to make our budget is close to $650,000, which is a lot for us.
Feeling our need keenly in December is a good thing. It points us to our generous Father who did not spare his Son in order to meet our deepest need. And if he did that, would he withhold such a small thing as financial provision?
The way our Father meets our needs is through thousands of friends who freely give. So this is just a simple request that if you have been helped by the outreach of Desiring God this year, and if the Lord has provided for you to give beyond your local church's needs, would you ask the Father if he would have you give a gift this month to help extend our outreach to others?
No pressure. We just wanted you to be aware of this need. The Father will provide for our needs and yours. He paid the cost of our redemption. And it is his good pleasure to give us the kingdom (Luke 12:32).
