Christianity, Pure and Undefiled

November 13, 2007  |  By: David Mathis  |  Category: Recommendations

Worldwide, nearly 150 million orphans await Christian mercy. "To visit orphans...in their affliction" is part of Jesus' brother's memorable representation of pure and undefiled Christianity (James 1:27). And even better than visiting orphans is bringing one home. Or several.

November is National Adoption Awareness Month. Family Life recently interviewed Bethlehem's Maridel Sandberg, a director of the MICAH Fund. MICAH stands for Minority Infant and Children Adoption Help. (Bethlehem also has a LYDIA Fund, Let Youths Be Delivered from Institutions by Adoption, that assists with international adoptions.) Maridel speaks at the 1:50 and 2:35 marks of the video below.

Family Life has joined forces with Focus on the Family and Shaohannah's Hope for "The Cry of the Orphan" adoption awareness campaign. And both Family Life and Focus on the Family are airing programs this week with an adoption emphasis.

Finally, two other resources on adoption worth giving attention to this November are John Piper's message "Adoption: The Heart of the Gospel" and Justin Taylor's article "From Adopted to Adoption."
