What should the relationship between duty and delight be?
Listen for a concise explanation of how duty and delight can be in harmony.
Duty and delight are not at odds in the Christian life. There is real duty and there is real delight. There is real debt and there is real liberty. They’re not at odds. How can this be? We feel them at odds many times, don’t we? I ought to do this, but I really don’t want to.—It will not be pleasurable, but it’s right. That’s the way we are many times. But it’s not ideal, is it? It would be way better to want to do what’s right.
This excerpt is from the sermon, Joy + Debt = A Two-Thousand-Mile Detour to Jerusalem.
