Thankful for the Love of God! Why?

Why are you thankful for the love of God? Many have absorbed the world's definition of love: we are loved when we are made much of. But God's love for us is not mainly his making much of us. Rather, he loves us by giving us the ability to enjoy making much of him forever. God's love labors and suffers to enthrall us with what is infinitely and eternally satisfying. God's love labors and suffers to break our bondage to the idol of self and focus our affections on the treasure of God. This is good news indeed, and causes us to rejoice anew in the wonderful love of God.
