Why Send Books to Global South Pastors?

Several days ago, we told you about an amazing opportunity to help us spread Piper books to Global South Pastors.

Bill Walsh, Director for International Outreach, describes why this need is so urgent and the strategic importance of this book:

Will you prayerfully consider joining us this weekend?

If you text SPREAD to 50555, you will donate $10 to Desiring God.*

Each text message enables us to send 5 copies of The Supremacy of God in Preaching to church leaders around the world. Our prayer is that God would provide $20,000 so that we can send 10,000 books. That’s only $2 per book!

Also, you can get updates on how much God has given to us for this project by following our Twitter account for the Philippian Fellowship, @DGPF, or by checking out our newly created project on the DG Network, 64 Hours, 10,000 Pastors.

Thank you for praying and spreading with…

30 Years of Preaching a Passion

Thirty years ago today John Piper preached his candidating sermon and gave his personal testimony at Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Needless to say, he got the job; and about half a year later he preached his installation sermon, "The Wisdom of Men and the Power of God."

Now a member of Bethlehem myself, I thank the Lord for this pastor. And I pray, Father, that you would keep him faithful, hopeful, and joyful in his continuing work of preaching a passion "for the supremacy of God in all things for the joy of all peoples through Jesus Christ."

Pastors, Love Your Hurting People!

One of the main ways that pastors can obey the great commandment and love God with all their hearts and souls is by tending to his sheep.

14 years ago, John Piper did this when he wrote a letter to John Knight, who is now Desiring God’s Sr. Director of Development. The letter was “Words of Hope for a Baby Born Blind.” John Knight has previously written about how God has used his precious, blind son to point him to Jesus Christ and his supremacy over all things while exposing his own sinfulness and neediness.

Be sure to subscribe to John’s blog as tomorrow he plans on posting about “one of the results of Pastor John’s calling on the church to do hard things.”
