Can You Say Facebook in Spanish?

¿Habla Español también? A major focus at Desiring God in recent years has been getting our resources into Spanish. Next to English, Spanish is the second most accessed language version of our website. We now have over 600 Spanish resources. And our freshest initiative is a Spanish-language Desiring God page on Facebook and Twitter.

Our desire is to make it as easy as possible for non-English readers worldwide to be able to access and interact with our content, and then spread it among their peers through their social networks. Increasingly, the way content is consumed and spread on the Internet is through social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter. According to one recent report, in Latin America alone, “Facebook accounts for 1 out of every 4 minutes spent online.”

We mentioned in our May ministry update that the Desiring God website has seen a significant increase in traffic outside the United States in the last year. Along with that rapid growth is an increasing number of non-English speakers accessing our resources. By tracking the language setting of site visitor's browsers, we have discovered that Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, and Arabic rank among the highest on the list of non-English visitors to our site.

Our aim is to use social media in a way that helps others enjoy God. We are excited to be able to do this now in Spanish, and we long to expand these efforts to other languages. But to do this, we need your help!

Korean, Anyone? Arabic? Portuguese?

We’re setting our sights on Korean, Arabic, and Portuguese as well. As we’ve done in Spanish, our desire is to launch social media accounts in these other languages. We are seeking volunteers to join our language translation teams.

If you are fluent in Spanish, Korean, Arabic, or Portuguese, have a few extra hours each week, and would enjoy investing some time to help us translate and spread our content, we’d be excited to talk with you. We’ve created an online application for those interested.

Also you can help us by directing your Spanish-speaking friends to our Spanish website, Facebook page, and Twitter account.

Whether you speak English or Spanish or any other language, our mission remains the same: to help people everywhere understand and embrace the truth that

Dios es más glorificado en nosotros cuando estamos más satisfechos en Él.

God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him.
