This update was sent to our Philippian Fellowship last Friday.
This week we received a letter from a man who is serving a 50 year sentence for armed robbery, kidnapping, and sexual assault. Before that he did time for sexual assault and robbery, and before that, robbery and possession of a stolen vehicle. He is 41 years old.
Here is an excerpt from his letter, transcribed exactly as he wrote it. While he may not be good at grammar and spelling, you can clearly see his heart through the words. I was moved to tears and wanted to share part of his letter with you this week.
First of all I want to thank Executive Director, for having a soft heart to our Father God cause it seen as everyone wants something, even from prisoners, someone is trying to benefit. Their nothing free no more. So I am thankful that this was giving from your heart. Thank God for that. The Bible clearly do say it is better to give then receive, man don’t I have a problem with that. But it is the true. Phil. 4:19 says God will supply our need. So I pray you all continue let God use you, cause someone need to hear a God word or read on a good work. But he might not can pay for it, and that soul might be lost cause of that. Thank God we still have some believers who don’t mind helping those who can’t or problems can’t give or who don’t want to give. Thank God for you all.
Over the last 10 years more than 7,275 inmates have written to us. God has been very gracious to provide the money needed to send them a total of 18,772 free resources, mostly books by Pastor John, but also inexpensive copies of the Bible.
Please pray for us, that we would be faithful stewards of this quiet ministry; that God would continue to provide the money we need; that men and women, souls, in jails and prisons all through the United States would be strengthened in their faith; and, if they are not believers, that God would do a mighty work and bring them from darkness into light.
