Talitha Ruth Piper

December 19, 1995 | by John Piper | Topic: Marriage & Family

This family has a little girl.

Taking her by the hand he said to her “Talitha cumi”; which means “Little girl, I say to you arise.” (Mark 5:41)

This little girl has a family.

In honor of her Oma, Ruth Eulalia Mohn Piper (October 7, 1919 – December 16, 1974) “Where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge; your people will be my people, and your God my God…” (Ruth 1:16)

On December 15, John, Noël, Abraham and Barnabas Piper welcomed two-month-old Talitha Ruth. She came into her father’s arms with a huge smile. Karsten, Shelly and Benjamin will get acquainted with their sister during the Christmas vacation.

We thank God from the bottom of our hearts for you—our friends. Talitha is blessed to be welcomed, not just by our physical family, but also by our family of believing brothers and sisters. You have already poured out such love, anticipation and joy on us.

Our deepest prayer for Talitha is that someday she will stand before the throne of God, among the saints—among all of you—because she has been adopted a second time, by God.
