In this lab, John Piper shows us what it means to have the mind of Christ and how that mind creates unity from a diverse people.
Some questions to ask as you read and study Philippians 2:1–2:
- Do Christians have to think the same way? What must they agree on and what can they disagree on?
- What is the one mind that Paul says we must have in Philippians 2:2? Are we given any hints in the following verses?
- How are you tempted to not live with this Philippians 2 mind? How can we live out the mind that is ours in Christ (Philippians 2:5) this week?

Principle for Bible Reading
Mine Within the Context First
Making connections to other passages enriches Bible study. We need to make connections, but we also need to be careful to import other passages into the one we are studying before we have given the passage itself its proper due.
Cross-reference and do word searches, but let each author speak for himself without making a collage of other passages too quickly.
