In God’s wisdom and love, he appoints leaders to govern his Church. In this lab, John Piper shows us who should govern the Church and why we need good leaders in our local bodies.
Principle for Bible Reading
Understanding the historical context of a book can be very helpful in our Bible study. In this lab, John Piper focuses our attention on “Philippi,” (v.1), which was a Greco-Roman colony during the time Paul wrote his letter. You can read more about the start of the Church in Philippi by reading the conversion stories of three people in Acts 16:12-40.

- What is the difference between an elder and a deacon (1 Timothy 3:2, 8-13)?
- How can you support your leaders and pray for them this week?
