Building Capacity for the Next Decade

Summary: Desiring God is moving into new offices in the summer of 2008, Lord willing. The Lord has provided a space that is over twice the size and yet will cost us less than where we currently are!
To build out the space will cost us $850,000. We are also seeking to raise at least $150,000 to cover some needed staff additions. The additional space and staff capacity will help us aggressively spread a passion for the supremacy of God to millions of people around the world.
Our total need is $1,000,000. $600,000 has already been pledged. Would you consider a one-time gift to help us raise the remaining $400,000 and build capacity at DG for the next decade?

Desiring God Is Growing
God has blessed Desiring God’s ministry. We need expand to keep up with the spreading:
- The website had 17 million visits in 2007 (142% increase from 2006), 75 million page views (108% increase), 7.7 million audio listens (208% increase) and 960,657 video downloads (354% increase).
- In addition to the winter pastors conference and fall national conference, Desiring God is now regularly holding regional conferences around the United States, including California and Texas in 2008.
- The Desiring God International Outreach Department was launched in 2007 and global spreading opportunities in Europe, Africa, South America and Asia are emerging. International conferences and speaking opportunities for John Piper are in development for 2009 and beyond.
- All our web resources continue to be provided for free and every product continues to be offered under our whatever-you-can-afford policy.
Twice the Space for Less Cost!
- God has provided more than twice the space (16,200 square feet) at Hope Commons, 2300 Chicago Avenue South, for less than the cost of our current space!
- $1 per year lease agreement for 25 years, and $6.60 per square foot per year for maintenance, utilities, parking and security.
- Staff members will have space that is designed specifically to help them more effectively and efficiently do their work.
- We will have capacity for more than 70 staff to be able to work together to spread a passion for God’s supremacy around the world.
Building Staff Capacity
Because of God’s extraordinary goodness to Desiring God, we must increase staffing in strategic areas and increase salary levels to adequately support young families. These costs are entirely included in the 2009 budget and beyond. The strategic staffing increases include the following areas:
- Resource Strategies: High quality audio and video is key to our spreading strategies.
- Internet Strategies: Maintaining, improving, and growing a website that makes the gospel freely accessible and available is the primary way we spread.
- International Outreach: The number of requests to help equip leaders around the world continues to increase.
- Event Strategies: Our events now reach more than 10,000 people each year.
We are asking our partners committed to Desiring God’s spreading mission and vision to prayerfully consider a one-time gift to support this staffing and building project.
