Do You Delight in Bible Reading?

Psalm 1:2

In this lab, John Piper reminds us how sweet the word of God is and how blessed the person is who meditates on it day and night.

Some questions to ask as you read and study Psalm 1:2:

  1. Do you delight in God’s word, or is it more like medicine that you take to stay alive?
  2. What do you think the word “law” means in Psalm 1:2? Do you think it only means the rules of the Bible? Watch the lab. Do you agree with how he understands “law” in the text?
  3. Often, we do not taste and see that the word is good because we are not receiving it. How can you feast more intentionally on the word this week?

Principle for Bible Reading

Word Searches

Word searches are important for deep study of the Bible. To conduct one, search for a particular word throughout the Bible to help clarify meaning and make connections to other Scriptures. A concordance makes these searches easy as they list words and where each is used in the Bible. Beyond this you can usually search Bible apps or online texts for instances of where specific words are found throughout the Bible.
