Speakers

Julius Kim is Dean of Students and Associate Professor of Practical Theology at Westminster Seminary in California. He is also Associate Pastor of New Life Presbyterian Church in Escondido.

He received his B.A. from Vanguard University, an M.Div. from Westminster Seminary, and his Ph.D. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Dr. Kim also directs the Center for Pastoral Refreshment, a unique institute dedicated to helping sustain pastoral excellence among Korean-American pastors.

He is the author of The Religion of Reason and the Reason for Religion: John Tillotson and the Latitudinarian Defense of Christianity, 1630–1694. He also contributed to Covenant, Justification, and Pastoral Ministry: Essays by the Faculty of Westminster Seminary California.

A native of South Korea and California, he and his wife, Ji Hee, have two daughters.

Marvin Olasky is provost of The King’s College, New York City, and editor-in-chief of World magazine.

He earned an A.B. from Yale University in 1971 and a Ph.D. in American Culture from the University of Michigan in 1976. From 1978 to 2008 he worked at the Du Pont Company and was a professor at The University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Olasky has written 20 books, including Compassionate Conservatism, The American Leadership Tradition, The Religions Next Door, Abortion Rites, Scimitar's Edge, Fighting for Liberty and Virtue, Prodigal Press, and The Tragedy of American Compassion, which Philanthropy magazine deemed one of “eight books that changed America.” He has also written 2,000 articles for publications ranging from World to the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.

He has chaired the boards of a Christian school and a crisis pregnancy center and been a foster parent, a PTA president, a cross-country bicycle rider, a newspaper reporter, a Little League coach, and an informal advisor to George W. Bush.

Married for 33 years and the father of four sons, he is also a senior fellow with the Acton Institute and an elder of the Presbyterian Church in America.

John Piper is Pastor for Preaching and Vision at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

He grew up in Greenville, South Carolina, and studied at Wheaton College, where he first sensed God’s call to enter the ministry. He went on to earn degrees from Fuller Theological Seminary (B.D.) and the University of Munich (D.Theol.).

For six years he taught Biblical Studies at Bethel College in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and in 1980 accepted the call to serve as pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

He has written, among other books, Desiring God, Don’t Waste Your Life, God Is the Gospel, and What Jesus Demands from the World, Spectacular Sins, and This Momentary Marriage.

He is married to Noël and has four sons and a daughter.

Sam Storms is Senior Pastor at Bridgeway Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and President of Enjoying God Ministries.

He is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma (B.A. in History), Dallas Theological Seminary (Th.M. in Historical Theology) and received his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Dallas.

In addition to over 30 years of pastoral ministry, Sam also taught theology and historical theology at Wheaton College for four years. He is the author of 17 books (most recently, More Precious than Gold: 50 Daily Meditations on the Psalms) and numerous journal articles.

Sam and his wife Ann have been married for 37 years. They have two grown daughters and two grandsons.

Mark Talbot is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Wheaton College where he has taught since 1992.

He earned his Ph.D. in Philosophy at the University of Pennsylvania. His areas of academic expertise include philosophical theology, philosophical psychology, David Hume, St. Augustine, and Jonathan Edwards. He is the recipient of the Ryken Award for Teaching Excellence in the Humanities. Among his publications are The Signs of True Conversion and (with J. Ligon Duncan) Should We Leave Our Churches: A Biblical Response to Harold Camping.

He has published scores of book reviews, magazine articles, and chapters in collaborative volumes. He is currently writing a book on suffering, tentatively entitled Unsought Gifts: Christian Suffering. He is also working on another book, tentatively entitled All the Good That Is Ours in Christ: Understanding Everything in Terms of God’s Plans for Human Beings.

He is married to Cindy and has one married daughter and three grandchildren.

Doug Wilson is the pastor of Christ Church in Moscow, Idaho. He is a founding board member of Logos School, a senior fellow of theology at New St. Andrews College, and he serves as an instructor at Grayfriars Hall, a ministerial training program at Christ Church.

He helped to establish the Confederation of Reformed Evangelical Churches (CREC), is the editor of Credenda Agenda, and the author of numerous books on classical Christian education, the family, the church, and the reformed faith. After serving in the U.S. Navy in the submarine service, he completed a B.A. and M.A. in philosophy and a B.A. in classical studies from the University of Idaho.

Douglas and his wife Nancy have three children and a bunch of grandkids.
