Sermons on The Law
The law teaches two things about obtaining salvation.
Meditate on the law in order to know the justice and mercy of God in Christ, your righteousness and your life.
The law can't overcome your rebellion and make you a loving person. But the Spirit can.
The law teaches us that it is God's desires, not our own, that are the measure of right and wrong.
When you entrust yourself to Christ you honor him, and he would be denying himself to turn you away.
If we don't understand why the law was given, we can kill ourselves with it.
It would be terribly wrong to say that the Mosaic law was opposed in its teaching to the Abrahamic covenant.
When Christ experienced the curse of the law on the cross it was not his own but ours.
The law is a description of the obedience of faith; it is not a job description for how to earn the wages of God's blessings.
