Tony Reinke
Senior Teacher & Lead Curator

Tony Reinke serves as a Senior Teacher and Lead Curator for Desiring God. He is best known today as the creator, producer, and host of the widely acclaimed Ask Pastor John podcast with John Piper — a show with nearly 400 million episode plays to date.
With an eye to cultural challenges and deep commitment to biblical wisdom, Tony has authored seven books that reflect his unique blend of cultural alertness, historical reading, and theological insights. His debut book, Lit!, explores the spiritual value of books and literacy in the Christian life. The Joy Project tells the sweeping narrative of God’s sovereign plan for our joy. Ask Pastor John distills the most popular podcast episodes into a curated guide to Christian living. Newton on the Christian Life draws together the timeless pastoral wisdom from pastor extraordinaire John Newton. Three of his more recent works tackle the intersection of faith and innovation: God, Technology, and the Christian Life presents a broad theological vision for life in the age of big tech, while 12 Ways Your Phone Is Changing You and Competing Spectacles examine the spiritual effects of our screen-saturated world.
Originally trained as a journalist, Tony’s career took a decisive turn after his conversion at age 22. Since then, his reporting has focused on ethical and theological challenges facing Christians today. As a nonprofit journalist, podcaster, curator, and author, his work continues to bridge the worlds of cultural commentary and doctrinal fidelity.
Tony joined Desiring God in 2012 after serving as editorial and research assistant to C.J. Mahaney at Sovereign Grace Ministries (2008–2011). He now lives with his wife, Kara, and one last child at home, in the desert foothills of Arizona, where they enjoy biking through the scenic landscape of volcanic mountains, saguaro cacti, rattlesnakes, and scorpions.
