Say No: You Have Five Seconds to Kill It

Given the chance, lust will quickly consume your thoughts. In this lab, John Piper explains why we only have about five seconds to get the upper hand.

Some questions to ask as you read and study:

  1. Think back on times when you successfully said no to lust. Why do you think you were successful those times?
  2. Watch the lab. Why does John Piper say we have about five seconds to kill a lustful thought?
  3. Since you only have five seconds to respond to a lustful thought, you want your, “no!” to be instinctive. Take some time to literally practice what you’re going to say when lustful thoughts strike.
